This position will sell products for the manufacturer or dealer to businesses and industrial establishments. They may also sell to individuals at sales offices, stores, showrooms, or customer's place of business by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
  • Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, or talks with customers on sales floor or by phone.
  • Displays or demonstrates product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features and benefits.
  • Quotes prices, terms, and conditions.
  • Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules.
  • Establish Ramsey Industries as an approved supplier and contribute to spec writing wherever applicable.
  • Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
  • Works with customer service representatives and marketing to keep account activities and literature up to date.
  • Tracks stock levels.
  • Coordinates and/or delivers customer training.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with purchasing contacts.
  • Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries.
  • Uses account classification techniques to allocate time appropriately and maximize productivity.
  • Identifies geographical and industry coverage gaps; analyzes and prioritizes options; ramps up new channel partners following the established process.
  • Attends trade shows.
